Trade licence pathway
Residential and commercial carpentry experience.
Carpentry RPL pathways recognise hands-on framing, fit-out, formwork and finishing carpentry experience gained on residential or commercial sites. Assessment typically covers the breadth of carpentry tasks you have performed independently, your understanding of building drawings and your ability to work safely to a finished standard.
A nationally recognised qualification may support a trade licence application, but your state regulator makes the final decision and sets its own criteria.
Yes. Subcontracted and self-employed carpentry work counts, provided you can supply evidence such as invoices, contracts or client references describing the work performed.
Overseas carpentry experience can be considered alongside Australian experience. An assessor will look at the overall evidence of your skills, though your state regulator may set its own requirements for how overseas experience counts toward a local licence.
